Welcome to Cupertino Little League!

Everyone Volunteers

Cupertino Little League is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization established to provide the local community with a fun and competitive Little League experience.  Not surprisingly, because it is an all-volunteer organization, the League relies on all of its families to pitch in to make the League run efficiently.  Simply, the League cannot operate without parental involvement.

How much time each family contributes varies.  Some families donate to the League in excess of 100 hours each season, while others simply do not have a lot of time to spare.  The League understands the varying needs and bandwidth of its families and, therefore, encourages families to help when they can – and as much as they can.

The League does not pay or otherwise hire anyone to assist with its operation.  That means that all coaches, team parents, snack shack staff, umpires, and Board members are volunteers.  The League appreciates the efforts of each and every volunteer.

The League Volunteer Program is relatively straightforward:

  • Each family makes a $200 deposit during registration.  The League will return your deposit, if one or more family member(s) fulfills the family's volunteer obligation. The deposit is made by check, payable to Cupertino Little League and dated June 15, 2019.  Please bring your deposit during registration when you bring your proof of age and residency documents.
  • Each family must choose three (3) volunteer roles as part of the registration process. You will not be expected to perform all three; we just want to make sure everyone is assigned a role in which s/he has an interest.
  • Each family is expected to help its player(s)'s team(s).  Such jobs include setting up and cleaning up the field, pitch count, score keeping, running the scoreboard, and working in the Snack Shack.
  • Each family is expected to work at least two shifts in the Snack Shack during the season.
  • The League also expects each family to help with more time-consuming tasks, as possible, like coaching a team, umpiring games, helping coordinate shifts in the Snack Shack, coordinating a League yearbook, and coordinating Picture Day or other fundraising events.
  • As a family, you may opt-out of volunteering by paying $200 during the registration process.  The League would prefer to have you volunteer than opt-out, but it leaves that to you.

Background Checks.   The League must perform a background check on every volunteer.  After you register your player(s), the League Safety Officer will contact you by email to begin the process.  The League uses a third party provider approved by Little League International.  Cupertino Little League will not have access to your confidential information.

Fingerprinting.  The City of Cupertino also requires each volunteer (who will be in contact with children) to get fingerprinted (if they have not already done so for Cupertino Little League).
